Thanyamundra Resort, Thailand

This beautiful resort only had nine rooms in two villas.  Located near the Khao Sok National Park, this organic farm was a nice change of pace from the touristy scene in Phuket.

The 24 hour butler (Big) met us at the entrance and drove us to our villa.

We had a ceremonial foot bath and refreshing drinks while they checked us in.

Our suite came with a cell phone to contact our staff and a nesspresso machine (which we are now contemplating purchasing our own).  Kamron is now drinking coffee (decaf) thanks to that machine.

Mr. Big then took us on a tour of the farm.

The tour ended at the pool (a 50 m pool) which thankfully did not have frigid water.

At dinner.  She didn't eat anything but bread,  a shame since the food was AMAZING!

Mist in the morning.  It was a wonderful spot to do some yoga.

Thomas and the kids in the common area of the villa.  The dining area is behind them.

We decided to go on another hike since the river was too low for rafting and I definitely was NOT going on another elephant ride.

We went on a 6km hike this time.  The terrain was much easier though.

Some lizardy thing.

Where the elephants make their own trail and trample everything in their path.

We can see our villa from the trail.

Somewhere along this trek I got a leach on me.  Ewwww....I'm shuddering just thinking about it.  I didn't know it till I saw this dark spot on my pants....blood from the hole he left in my leg after he fell off, engorged with my blood.  Totally nasty!!!  Apparently it is 100 times worse during the rainy season.  Yuk.

A Gibbon watching us closely.

The leach is on my right thigh in this picture.  Sucking away....and I am oblivious and swinging.

Lunch after the hike.

Lounging at the pool.

Heading in for dinner.

Each morning the mist looked different.

We stayed here two days then headed back south to the Phuket airport.  The main road had a major accident so we had to take back roads.  They were extremely curvy and only made worse by the driver having a love affair with the brakes.  Vivey puked three times poor girl.  Upchucked her organic carrot cookies all over Thomas' arms.  We had to stop three times.  Thankfully, I myself didn't get sick even though I felt a little queasy..I willed myself to breath through it.  Finally made it the airport, typically unorganized and crowded.  Waited in line for 30-40 minutes only to find out it was the wrong line.  I wouldn't leave until they checked us in and escorted our luggage to the proper place.  Then an overnight flight, no sleep for me, two hours for the kids.  Came back to an arctic temperature of 9 degrees Fahrenheit.  Yay!  So grateful we had the opportunity to visit Thailand.
